On the previous day, a 14 year old scout was reported
missing. South county deputies, South county SAR, and DPS
Ranger searched through much of the night.
Sgt Hudgens
called me early in the morning, requesting our assistance at
daybreak when DPS Ranger would be back on scene. Only 6 of
us responded.
We had the help of a number of family members
and fellow scouts, and were covering our assignments well
when DPS Ranger found the subject around 10:30 AM about 1.5
miles south of the camp.
This marked our first mission
where Gila County Mounted Posse responded as well. These
are the kinds of missions where they will be a great help
because they can more easily cover the extended radius a
search like this requires.
