February 2000

Due to workload and other things that
are associated with work, play, etc. The Commander is unable to
present a column in this newsletter. He has passed on a few things
that I will present to you but in other formats. Mike will try
to get back into the swing of things later.
Due to his new job, Suede
Carlson has had to resign his position as the Vice-Commander and PR
Officer. At the last board meeting his replacement was chosen.
It is with GREAT pleasure that I announce to you that
the new Vice Commander is Vynette Sage. It is for sure that
our new VC will do a wonderful job. She has shown that she is
most capable in any position she undertakes. Best Wishes to
the new Vice Commander.
And
taking the position as Public Relations will be a very hardy and
capable member. Dave Murphy has taken over those duties. Best to
you also Dave.
The
position of Safety Officer is now open and will be filled at a
later date.
As
some of you know, I have made an attempt to undertake the
newsletter. And, as is quite obvious, I have had some problems in
getting it going. Mostly due to my inability to make some updates
in my computer. I have caused a couple of major computer
failures. I have learned my lesson. I do wish to express my
apologies to all the members for this shortcoming. The new format
for the newsletter will be a basic, no frills letter. I do not
have the capacity to do photos and the like as in the past. Also,
we are going to this format so as to cut costs. Many of the squad
members are on line and have E-mail addresses. This format will be
compatible to most of the computers. It will also save roughly
$10-15 per mailing that can be used in other manners. Now on to
other more interesting things.
The
major prizes have been acquired for the Expo. They are really
great. The 1st or Grand Prize is going to be a 2000
Yamaha Grizzly 600 4X4 ATV. It is sponsored by 4 Seasons in Star
Valley. Along with this will be a new trailer, donated by Big Tex
Trailers in Phoenix. In addition, there will also be $150 worth of
accessories from 4 Seasons. Total Retail Value - $7750
Second
prize is a wonderful chain saw sculpture by Jim McMillion TR-17. An
outstanding piece of work and would be fabulous in anyone’s home.
Valued at $1000. Yes, he donated it. Thanks Jim.
Jerry’s Sport Shop, Phoenix, donated third
prize. It is a 2000 model Onieda Eagle Discovery compound bow.
This model has yet to hit the shelves. This prize is valued at $500.

tickets to help in the sales contact either member. They will make
arrangements to get some to you. All members are requested to get a
few for sale. It might be noted members and immediate
household members are not eligible for the drawings.
There are also other prizes 10X42 Binoculars, Badlands Backpack, a night
at the Payson Majestic Mountain Inn, and others!!!! Whatadeal!!!
And it
goes without saying, but I am going to say it anyway. Thanks to

It has
come to my attention that TR-10 John Boyles is progressing very
well and the Doctors are giving him some good news. John has
traveled to his residence in Pine and is gaining weight. Only one
pound, but gaining. Just goes to show you, you can’t put a good
man down. John has expressed his thanks to all the squad members
that have kept in contact with him by cards, letters and e-mail.
It is things like this that help keep up his spirits when the
times got hard. Glad to hear you’re improving John. Our prayers
are still going out for a full recovery.
++++++++++++++ Call-Out ++++++++++++
The
Squad was called out for a lost 76-year-old female between the
Control Road and Diamond Point Fire Tower. There were 25 members
that responded. The subject was located at approximately 2000 hr.
and at the time did not complain of any injuries. Afterwards it was
found she had a broken tailbone, a very painful injury. Extrication
from the area took around 2 ½ hours by foot and ATV. Thanks to all
those who responded. A family member made a $100 donation to the
squad.
