Expo and Fund-raiser
The raffle ticket sales seem to have either bogged down or never
gotten off yet. As of 03-25-00 a grand total of 337 tickets is all
that have been sold. Don Peters has sold over half of them. I must
admit that I am guilty of not selling as many as I should by now.
As you well know, we must sell all of them if we want to make the
money we are hoping for. If you have not gotten any tickets you can
get them from Don Peters 472-7457 or from Ron Crimmins 476-4941.
Get a handful from them and help in the raising of funds for our
squad. Don, Patt and the committee have made up a tentative floor
plan for the booth at the Expo and things seem to be progressing
well. If anyone can solicit any other prizes they will be a
welcomed addition. The more prizes to be given away, the more
incentive for people to buy them.
Mission Debrief
On Feb 13, 2000 a mission was called to locate an overdue
male subject. The subject had last been seen in the afternoon west
of the water treatment plant on F/S Road 406 in the area of American
Gulch. The subject had also been a surgery patient about two week’s
prior. DPS helicopter located the subject and he was transported
out by ATV. He advised that he had gotten disoriented and was
expecting to spend the night. Twenty squad members responded
expending 69 man-hours. Good job folks.
Training
I have very, very good news to report in the training department.
We now have five, just count them, (5) newly Certified Rope
Technicians!!! We want to congratulate them all. They are in order
of TR number: TR-23 Dave Pirtle, TR-32 Ira Gibel, TR-51 Colleen
Dirren, TR-52 Fred Bemeche, and TR-66 Larry Pirtle. Also completing
the classroom portion of the class were TR-7 Cathy Pirtle and TR-57
Doug Conklin. Our new Vice-Commander TR-19 Vynette Sage and Cliff
Sage TR-16 also sat in on the classroom. A round of appreciation to
all that came to the hands-on at the Squad building and at Pine
Creek Canyon Narrows. We could not have done without your help team
members!!!! A BIG THANKS from Dacey and myself. And HEARTY
CONGRATULATIONS to all whom attended the course. Not as bad as you
thought it was going to be was it???? Great class with great
students and assistants. Thanks everyone!!!!!! It might be known
that Fred was tops in the written test. That’s probably because he
bought his harness and gear several months ago in GREAT
anticipation. Congratulations Fred. Now you have a use for all
that STUFF!!!
Several of the squad members attended the SAR Academy. Due one of
the instructors not being able to attend, the continuation and final
portion of the class will be on April 1, 2000 at 0800 hours.
Rope Training at Pine Canyon Narrows is scheduled for April 8, 2000
at 0800 hours. Everyone is invited to attend. Come on out and have
some fun. There have been some requests and suggestions. We do
appreciate them. We take all suggestions and requests to heart.
Just you wait and see!!!!!! It will be fun. Hope you all can
attend.
Next meeting: April 13, 2000 at Manzanita Manner, See ya there.
